Marlin Guy Manford, 67, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at his residence. He was born on June 23, 1943, in Manilla, Iowa, the son of the late Earnest Guy and Ella Bertha Pauline Kittler Schnoor Manford. He was a 1961 graduate of Manilla Community High School in Manilla, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy during 1961-1966. He was united in marriage on September 25, 1964, at Camp Pendleton, Calif., to Loretta Hope Atwood, who resides at the home. Marlin worked as a mail clerk with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years and as a security officer with Scholastic, Inc. He was a member of the VFW Post 1003, American Legion Post 5, and American Postal Workers Union. Marlin enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two children: Eric (Laura) Manford, Park Hills, and Alicia (Rich) Jones, Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Zachary Manford, Aaron Manford, Olivia Manford, Jon (Jodi) Jones, Janelle (Zach) Harris; and two great-grandchildren, Brody Jones and Jack Yazawa. He was preceded in death by five sisters, two brothers, and a granddaughter, Gabrielle Manford. Graveside services with military honors will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2011, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to the VFW Post 1003, 217 E. Capitol Ave., Jefferson City, MO 65101; or to the Goldschmidt Cancer Center, 1432 Southwest Blvd., Jefferson City, MO 65109. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
