Gladys Ellen Withouse Golden, age 79, Green Valley, Arizona, died peacefully Saturday, February 26, 2011, in Green Valley, Arizona. She was born October 2, 1931, near Belle, Mo., to Alfred H. and Dora Glover Withouse. She graduated from Bland High School and began her long career in bookkeeping at the age of 16. On December 22, 1951, she married Roscoe E. Golden in Belle, Mo. Their railroading years took them to Leeton, Mo., Stover, Mo., Liberal, Kan. and to McPherson, Kan. in 1965. They retired to Green Valley in 1998, to be near family. Gladys was a past matron of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, Roscoe; one daughter, Debra G. Dielman, and one son, James E. Golden, all of Green Valley; grandsons, Christopher J. Dielman, Ellensburg, Wash. and Steven Dielman (Sheila) and one great-grandson, Max Dielman, all of Ft. Collins, Colo.; one brother, Clyde (Judy) Withouse, Bland, Mo. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Austin, Oliver, Gussie, Larry, and Joe. Visitation will be held at Sassmann's Funeral Home in Bland on Wednesday, March 2, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sassmann's in Bland at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, followed by burial at Liberty Cemetery, Belle, Mo. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
