Frances Gretchen "Fran" McHugh, 84, of Jefferson City, died Monday, February 28, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on June 10, 1926, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of the late Theodore August and Frances Orilla Ridenhour Schirr. She was united in marriage on July 21, 1945, in St. Louis, to Walter Leo McHugh who survives. Fran was employed with the State of Missouri in the Office of Administration General Services for 30 years, retiring October 31, 1999. Fran was a member and past president of the Cosmopolitan Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, tennis, playing bridge, solving jigsaw puzzles, and reading. Other survivors include: four children, Gretchen (Steve) Veltrop, Jefferson City; Kirk (Chris) McHugh, Jefferson City; Wally McHugh, Jefferson City; Tracy McHugh, Jefferson City; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sarah McHugh; and three sisters, Virginia Zoll, Dorothy Rommel, and Dolores Schirr. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jennings officiating. Entombment will be in Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum.
