Emily Anne Vogel Talken, 63, of Taos, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Boone Hospital. She was born October 8, 1947, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Carl Felix and Rose Mary Moerschel Vogel. She was a 1965 graduate of Helias High School and a 1969 graduate of Webster College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was married on January 22, 1972, in Jefferson City to Marvin Leo Talken, who survives at the home. Emily was Vice President of Jefferson City Coca-Cola Bottling Company, a family business where she has been employed since 1973. She was a volunteer with the Old Munichberg Association, Old Munichberg Oktoberfest, St. Mary's Health Center Auxiliary, Cole County Historical Society, and Historical City of Jefferson. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Emily has been an active volunteer at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and School Association and school board member. She currently was serving on the Harvest Festival and Picnic Committee and was the current president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Emily volunteered as a substitute teacher at Helias High School and was past president of the Helias School Board and former member of the Helias Foundation. In 2011, Emily was inducted into the Helias Hall of Fame. Other survivors include two sons: Matthew Vogel Talken, Jefferson City, and Stephen Frank Talken, Chicago, Ill.; and three siblings: Rose Teresa (Alan) Mengwasser, Jefferson City, Edith Grace Vogel, Jefferson City, Carl (Kim) Vogel, Jefferson City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. I.C. Medina, the Rev. George Kramer, and the Rev. Wayne Boyer concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
