Mr. Donald G. Otto, age 76 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at the Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Don was born on January 3, 1935, in Jefferson City, Mo., where he was raised by his grandparents, Joseph and Addie Garrett. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Don graduated from Jefferson City High School. He served in the United States Army from August 28, 1956 until March 31, 1962. Don was employed as a salesman with Cleveland Cotton Products for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed collecting antiques, restoring vintage cars, and square dancing. Survivors include: a sister, Linda Pennington (Carey) of Tacoma, Wash.; two brothers, Michael Young (Debbie) of Dewey, Okla., and James Love of Peoria, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Young; his uncle, Joseph Garrett; and his grandparents, Joseph and Addie Garrett. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2011. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Freeman Chapel with Deacon Bob Dulle officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Samaritan Center.
