Edward Eugene "Sonny" Webb, 73, of Vallejo, California, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011, at Kaiser Medical Center in Vallejo, California. Edward was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, on June 19, 1937, the eldest son of Bertha Webb Brown. Edward graduated from Lincoln University Laboratory High School in Jefferson City, Missouri and attended Lincoln University. He served in the United States Navy from 1956-1959, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He served in the Navy Reserves until 1962. Upon returning to Jefferson City after the Navy, he was employed with the Missouri State Penitentiary. Edward moved with his wife Betty and family, to San Francisco, California in 1961 and shortly after began his career with the San Francisco Municipal Railway. He was a grip man on the world famous Cable Cars, one of the countries oldest rail car systems. After sustaining a work injury, Sonny transitioned into a coach operator, a position he held until retirement in 1983. Sonny enjoyed playing dominos with his friends and spending time with his grandchildren. His sense of humor and contagious smile attracted a lifetime of friends who he enjoyed keeping in touch with by phone. Survivors include five loving children: Pamela, Terry, Carol, Eddy (wife Stephanie), and Tonia (husband Patrick); four grandchildren: Nicole, Taakia, Jasmine and Julien; four brothers: Donald Webb (wife Joyce), Arthur Brown (wife Daisy), and Glover Brown Jr. of Jefferson City, and Charles Brown (wife Shirley) of St. Louis; and one sister: Sandra Thomas (husband Merlin) of Jefferson City. Edward also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. His mother, Bertha Brown, his stepfather, Glover Brown, and his sister, Carol Ann Kelly, preceded him in death. A Memorial Service to remember "Sonny" will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. David Ballenger officiating.
