Mary Lee Oidtman

Mary Lee Oidtman, age 74, of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tenn. She was born on July 7, 1936 in Cairo, Ill., to the parents of Lee Robinson Green and Mary (Hunter) Green. She was raised in New Madrid attending Immaculate Conception Parish School. She later attended Fort Smith High School in Fort Smith, Ark., and Font Bonne College in St Louis. She worked for TWA as a Flight Attendant before meeting her husband, Jerry Oidtman, in Kansas City, in 1958. They were married November 29, 1958 in New Madrid. She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Fairfield Glade, Tenn., seeking comfort from our Lord during her illness. Additionally, she was a recognized leader in the PEO Organization being the inaugural President of PEO Chapter AT in Fairfield Glade and serving as past president in Nashville, Tenn., Peoria, Ill., and West Chester, Pa. Mary Lee was also an avid bridge player holding the title of Life Master from the American Contract Bridge League winning multiple sectional and regional events in the Southeast . She had an uncanny ability to light up a room with her smile and energy. We will miss her dearly and are comforted in knowing that she is simply starting the next phase of her life with God. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerome Oidtman; son, Christopher Oidtman and his wife Diane (Lavin) their son, Andrew and daughter, Rachel; son, Gregory Oidtman and his wife Victoria (Chastain) and their sons, Charles and William; son, John Oidtman and his wife Anita (Coropolis) and their daughters, Jessica and Catherine; sister, Jo Ann Metzger and her husband, George. A memorial service will be held today, Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Rev. John Dowling officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to P.E.O Chapter AT, c/o Arlene McShane,145 Forest Hill Drive, Fairfield Glade, TN. 38558 Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. of Crossville, Tenn. is in charge of arrangements.
