Theodore Bernard "Ted" Distler, 74, of St. Martins, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at his residence. He was born on May 14, 1937, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Alphonso Frank and Christine Mary Dulle Distler. He was married on October 3, 1959, in Taos, to Norma Jean Hoffmeyer, who survives at the home. A 1955 graduate of St. Peter High School, Ted was employed for 32 years as a truck driver for Orscheln Brothers and later for Jones Truck Lines where he retired in 1991. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard for eight years. Ted was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and its Parish Council, lifetime member of Teamsters Local 833, Teamsters Retirees Association, Cursillo Movement, Marriage Encounter, and the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association for which he was an extremely active volunteer and advocate. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed coaching boys baseball and football. Other survivors include three children, Mitch (Angela) Distler, Jefferson City, Dan (Pam) Distler, Carl Junction, and Mary Ellen (Jason) Raines, Wentzville; eight grandchildren, Cody Distler, Logan Distler, Nathan Distler, Jacob Distler, Gracie Distler, Ashley Raines, Owen Raines, and A.J. Raines; and one sister, Beth (Joe) Payne, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynne Kaye Distler; two brothers, Louis Distler and Francis Distler; and one sister, Dorothy Burd. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon, Thursday, June 16, 2011, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11:30 a.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
