John Weaver Sr. (Veteran)

John M. Weaver Sr., 88, Georgetown, Texas, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at his home as a result of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. John was born in Sallisaw, Oklahoma on April 9, 1923. He served in World War II in Asia. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma and his PhD in Biochemistry from the UT, Austin. His interest in science, theology, politics, literature, writing and music remained strong to his last day. John was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Ann Ward in June of 1957. John is also predeceased by his most recent wife, Betty Gene (DeBusk) Weaver. John is survived by his two children, Ruth Ann Barrios of St. Ann, Mo. and John M. Weaver Jr. of Andover Mass.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. John left friends across the country in the many places he lived including his more recent residences in, Lynchburg, Va., Jefferson City, Mo, and Georgetown, Texas. John will be remembered by those who knew him for his breadth of interests, his sense of humor, and his uncommon values of honor, duty, and courtesy. A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at the San Gabriel Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in the Activity Center of Sun City, Texas.
