Joseph H. Samson, age 100, of Linn, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011, at Oak Tree Villas in Jefferson City. Joe was born March 26, 1911, in Frankenstein, a son to the late Lorenz and Agnes (Nilges) Samson. Joe attended school in Frankenstein. On October 10, 1940, Joe was united in marriage to Florence A. Jaegers in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2010. In his younger days, Joe was a member of the Samson Brothers Band and he also operated a movie theatre in Chamois. Joe was a mechanic at the Ford Garage in Linn and a farmer. Joe was a member of St. George Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading and gardening. Joe is survived by: three sons, Larry J. and his wife Sharon Samson of Pawnee, ILL., Roger W. and his wife Linda Samson of Jefferson City, and Donald P. and his wife Evelyn Samson of Jefferson City; one daughter, Diane R. Dudenhoeffer of Taos; eight grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and two step- great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife, Joe was preceded in death by: five brothers, Paul, Hubert, Charles, August, and Alphonse "Dick" Samson; two sisters, Mary Dudenhoeffer and Josephine Thoenen; one son-in-law, James Dudenhoeffer; and one great-grandchild, Connor Samson. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at St. George Church in Linn with Fr. I.C. Medina as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
