Herbert C. (Bud) Kiesling, age 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his home on the farm where he was born, near Jefferson City, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 23, 1923, the son of Otto and Mary Dampf Kiesling , both of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on June 29, 1948, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, to Mildred Frieda Knernschield, who preceded him in death on April 9, 2011. He was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, where he was an usher for many years. Herbert worked for the Lohman Milling Co. for 16 years, and also farmed and operated a sawmill on the family farm. Herbert enjoyed Cardinal baseball, dancing, playing cards, bowling, hunting and fishing, and horseshoes, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include: six children, David (Linda) Kiesling of Jefferson City, Carol (Craig) Mize of Jefferson City, Larry (Margie) Kiesling of Jefferson City, Joyce (Clifford) Lepper of Eugene, Judy (Donald) Basinger of Jefferson City, and Kathy (Byard) Ross of Blue Springs; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild expected in July; and one sister, Elenora Block. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three sisters: Venita Kramp, Ruby Kramp and Martha Angerer. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Weber Funeral Home in Russellville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 13, 2011, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, with the Rev. Francis Doyle and the Rev. Donald J. Antweiler concelebrating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Peter Capital Improvement Fund or Masses. Arrangements are under the direction of Weber Funeral Home in Russellville.
