Louis "Louie" U. Bonnot, age 80, of Jefferson City, formerly of Linn, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his residence in Jefferson City. Louie was born August 8, 1930, in Linn, the son of Louis H. and Rosa (Struempf) Bonnot. He was united in marriage on April 21, 1956, in Bonnots Mill to Emma Schmid who survives of the home. Louie was a graduate of Linn High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952. He then worked as a tow boat engineer for three years. As a teenager, Louie worked at the Unterrified Democrat. Louie was the co-owner of Linn U-Sav Market from 1956 to 1973, and was the sole owner from 1973 to 1990. Louie was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, he even hitchhiked to the 1946 World Series as a teenager. He also enjoyed traveling, including annual family vacations across the country and visiting Rome, Italy where he shook the hand of Pope John Paul II. Louis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who knew no strangers and had a wonderful sense of humor that will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Louie was a current member of St. Joseph Parish in Jefferson City. He was a former member of St. George Parish in Linn, where he served on the parish council for three years, and was President of the parish council for two years during the construction of their current church. He was a charter member of the Linn Council 4838 Knights of Columbus. He was a former President of the Linn Lions Club and a member of the Catholic Knights of America. In addition to his wife, Louie is survived by: three daughters, Judy Toellner and her husband Ron of Sedalia, Susan Fowler and her husband Johnnie of Linn, and Sandra Boillot and her husband Eugene of St. Charles; one son, Kenneth Bonnot and his wife Laurie of Loose Creek; eight grandchildren, Samantha (Fowler) Stirling, Bethany (Toellner) Findley, Leslie (Fowler) Mills, Brad Toellner, Sarah Boillot, Emily Boillot, Louis Bonnot, and Ally Bonnot; and three great- grandchildren, Jackson Stirling, Ty Findley and Emersyn Mills. Louie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Bonnot and Joseph Bonnot; one half-brother, Arthur Bonnot; two sisters, Anna Marie Tynes and Imelda Bonnot. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at St. George Church in Linn with Fr. I.C. Medina as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
