Sr. Veronica (Mary Cletus) Boss

Sr. Veronica (Mary Cletus) Boss, 90, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Anna House, Bridgeton, Mo. She was a Franciscan Sister of Mary for 73 years. She was born June 28, 1920, near Morrison, Mo., to Charles and Hedwig (Thuli) Boss. She entered the Sisters of St. Mary March 19, 1938, and professed final vows September 30, 1943. (In 1987 the Sisters of St. Mary reunited with the Sisters of St. Francis of Maryville as the Franciscan Sisters of Mary.) Sr. Veronica earned her bachelor's (1949) and master's (1951) in Dietetics from Saint Louis University. She worked as a dietitian, cook, and baker, then as Director of Dietetics, at SSM hospitals in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Madison Wis. from 1974 to 1995, she served as dietitian for clinics in southeastern Texas. Sr. Veronica was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by many relatives and friends. Sr. Veronica donated her body to Saint Louis University School of Medicine. A Memorial Mass will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Anna House Chapel, 12349 De Paul Drive, Bridgeton, MO.
