Josephine Ann Welsch-meyer, age 67, of Freeburg, departed this life Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Westphalia Hills, Westphalia. She had been in failing health for some time. She was born February 16, 1944, at Jefferson City, a daughter of Philip and Clara Elizabeth (Boehm) Luecke. Mrs. Welschmeyer was united in marriage on July 28, 1962, at Rich Fountain, to Paul Francis Welschmeyer, and to this union, six children were born. Mrs. Welschmeyer was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. She had been employed for the most part in the window room at Quaker Window Products Company, Freeburg, for 47 years retiring in 2008. Mrs. Welschmeyer enjoyed gardening, canning, growing flowers for the church, fishing, frogging, watching game shows and her little Yorkie puppy, Cooper. She especially enjoyed providing holiday meals for family gatherings. Mrs. Welschmeyer was a devoted housewife and homemaker and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Welschmeyer include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Barry Phillip Welschmeyer, Freeburg, Anthony Curtis and Krista Welschmeyer, Koeltztown, and Shawn Joseph and Kelly Welschmeyer, Rich Fountain; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Kay and Kevin Allen, Freeburg, Holly Ann and Curtis Krieg, Rich Fountain, and Paula Jo and Norbert Fick, Freeburg; 16 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 31, 2006; her father on July 26, 1976; her mother on June 19, 1983; and one sister, Annabelle Marie Strope, in 2005. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Welschmeyer at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2011, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with Rev. Mike Murphy officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011, with a Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. with Rev. Ignazio Medina, St. George Parish, Linn leading, and 9-10 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2011, all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. Masses or memorial contributions to the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, are preferred by the family with envelopes available at the Holy Family Church or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
