Leroy Raithel

Leroy Henry Raithel, 73, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born December 19, 1937, in Schubert, son of the late Henry E. and Gertrude A. (Kemmer) Raithel. He was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. On June 30, 1972, Leroy was united in marriage to Katherine E. Sims, who survives at their home. Leroy was a Cartographer for the Missouri Department of Transportation, where he retired after 37 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Schubert. Leroy enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in his younger years, and also enjoyed fishing and working in his yard. Along with his wife Kathy, Leroy is also survived by three daughters, Holly Boston (husband Frank) of Foristell, Heather Hall (husband Brent) of Jefferson City and Vicki Sawyer of Excelsior Springs; two sons, Richard "Rick" L. Raithel of Lohman and Mark Raithel (wife Karen) of Centertown; one sister, Bonnie Gaskill (husband Nathan) of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Sadie Boston, Cole Boston, Quintin Hall, Justin Sawyer, Kara Barber, Randi Kampeter, Aric Raithel, Marah Raithel, Gage Raithel and Eli Raithel; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He also has one grandchild on the way. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; and one infant son, Jason Leroy Raithel. Friends will be received from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. Gerald Scheperle officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association; or a charity of the donor's choice.
