Wayne Herman Duenow

Wayne Herman Duenow, 94, formerly of New Bloomfield, died Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Summit Villa Lifecare in Holts Summit. He was born April 3, 1916, near St. Ansgar, Iowa, a son of Carl August and Edna Susan (Koster) Duenow. He attended Spring Valley Elementary School and was a 1933 graduate of St. Ansgar High School, both in St. Ansgar. On March 4, 1938, Wayne was united in marriage in Osage, Iowa, to Dorothy Shoars, who preceded him in death on February 5, 2009. Wayne farmed in Iowa until 1956, when the family moved to New Bloomfield. He was employed at Harbison-Walker Refractories in Fulton until his retirement in 1978. After retirement, Wayne and Dorothy traveled the United States extensively. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. Survivors include five daughters: Sherry Repper and husband Tom of New Bloomfield, Constance Rumbaugh and husband Jeffrey of Moberly, Pamela S. Baxter of Columbia, Debra Goldammer and husband Sam of Jefferson City, Jacquelyn Berry and husband Douglas of Jefferson City; five sons: Robert Duenow and wife Betty of Las Vegas, Nevada, David Duenow and wife Vickie of Trenton, Michael Duenow and wife Nancy of Fulton, Philip Duenow of Darlington, South Carolina, James Duenow and wife Carol of Jefferson City; three sisters: Shirley Markham, Eleanor Tracy, Margaret Runtsch and husband Lawrence; three brothers: Kenneth Duenow, Merlyn Duenow, John Duenow and wife Sally; 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Wayne was also preceded in death by his parents, three grandsons and one brother. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2011, at Faith Lutheran Church, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tony Alter officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Faith Memorial Fund, in care of Faith Lutheran Church.
