Herbert Burlbaw

Herbert Gary Burlbaw (Gary), age 75, of Plano, Texas, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010, in Plano, Texas. Gary was born in Jefferson City, on September 19, 1935, the eldest of three sons to Herbert and Mildred Burlbaw. Gary attended St. Peter's Catholic School in Jefferson City and was a member of the class of 1953. He then attended Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He graduated with a civil engineering degree in 1958. He married Helen Seeker of Jefferson City on December 29, 1956. Their love and patience helped raise four children together. They moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1978, where Gary worked for the City of Dallas Environmental Services. Helen passed away suddenly in 1989. He re-married on September 6, 1997, to Polly Brown of Plano, Texas. After retiring later that year, he and Polly spent the next 13 years enjoying grandchildren, great-grandchildren and each other's company. He was surrounded by his loving family during his last days on earth. He is survived by his wife, Polly Burlbaw of Plano, Texas; his daughter, Cathleen Stewart and husband Edward of Carrollton, Texas, son, Carl Burlbaw and wife Hillary of Dallas, Texas, son, Curtis Burlbaw and wife Emily of Allen, Texas, daughter, Carolyn Burlbaw of Frisco, Texas; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, John Burlbaw and wife Beverly of Taos, and Tom Burlbaw and wife Jeanette of Leawood, Kan.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Burlbaw; and his parents, Herbert and Mildred Burlbaw. His body has been donated to the Southwestern Medical School of Dallas. A memorial service and Mass is scheduled for Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano, Texas.
