Charlie W. Brauer

Charlie W. Brauer, 82, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, at Allen Street Place in Jefferson City. Charlie was born November 22, 1928, in Mexico, a son of Josephine Dermody and Charles W. Brauer Sr. He graduated from Mexico High School, Central Missouri State, and Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla. Mr. Brauer taught Chemistry at Rolla High School, Jefferson City Senior High and Junior College, University of Missouri at Rolla, Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, and finished his career teaching Chemistry at Westminster College in Fulton for 32 years. He retired as a professor of chemistry in 1995. He was a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, a member of the American Chemical Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, Lambda Chi Alpha Social Fraternity, and he was an active member and elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City. Charles is survived by one brother, Jerry Brauer and wife Shirley, Mexico; two nephews, Brent Brauer and wife Carrie, Nixa, and Dr. Brian Brauer, Denver, Colo.; one great-niece, Megan, Nixa; and one great- nephew, Matt, Nixa. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011, Churchill Memorial Chapel, in Fulton, with Rev. Robert Erickson and Rev. Dave Henry officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
