Norma Wightman, 76, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011, at her residence. She was born on October 25, 1934, in California, Mo., the daughter of Edward and Ida Mae (Murray) Garrison, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on August 18, 1951, in Harrison, Ark., to Robert J. Wightman, who also preceded her in death. She worked as a shipping clerk for Avon Products in Kansas City. Her favorite pastime was traveling with her husband to all the states in the Union, and being with her family. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and helpers at Hospice Advantage. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Lynn Daugherty and husband Wayne of Peculiar; three grandchildren, Joseph Robert Spencer, Christian Marie McDaniel, and Nicholas Andrew Daugherty; and three great-grandchildren, Colton, Marysa, and Joey. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Ann Moser and 12 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo. Burial will be in California City Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Frank Whitney. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018.
