Nina F. (Lanham) Boettcher, 54, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born November 1, 1956, in Kirksville, a daughter of Richard and Vina (Elschlager) Lanham. Nina was a 1974 graduate of Schuyler R-1 in Lancaster and later graduated from Lincoln University with an RN degree. She worked as a nurse for a number of years at St. Mary's Health Center and made many friends in her dedicated years there. She enjoyed gardening, family vacations and camping, loved her pets and had a passion for cross stitching. Her character was known from a first impression, where someone could easily form a lasting friendship. Survivors include three children: Nick Terrell and special friend Lacey Schuetz (who was like a second daughter to Nina) of Jefferson City, Stephanie Lanham of Jefferson City, and Joshua Shelton of Crestview, Florida; nine siblings: Fred Lanham of Lancaster, Ellen Brinkman and husband John of Cedar Hill, Frances Robbins and husband Ron of Energy, Illinois, Reta Dabney and husband Marc of Lancaster, Leta Bozek and husband John of Kansas City, Lois Rysdam and husband Mark of Bloomfield, Iowa, Edward Lanham and wife Billie of Glenwood, Dick Lanham and wife Sherri of Amarillo, Texas, and Beverly Walling and husband Garrett of Omaha, Nebraska; an uncle, Ruel Elschlager and wife Jan of Burlington, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nina was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Boettcher, and former husband, David Shelton. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
