Cora C. Muenks, age 97, of Loose Creek, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Autumn Meadows Skilled Nursing Facility in Linn. Cora was born on September 22, 1913, in Loose Creek, a daughter to the late William and Katherine (Trucker) Orscheln. She attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Loose Creek. On November 19, 1935, she was united in marriage to Ben H. Muenks in Loose Creek. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1977. Cora was a lifelong area resident of Loose Creek and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, St. Ann's Sodality, the sewing circle and Catholic Knights of America. Cora was a homemaker and loving mother. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Survivors include: two sons, Sylvester Muenks and his wife Mary Lou and Norman Muenks and his wife Judy, all of Loose Creek; three daughters, Mary Ann Luebbert and her husband Raymond of Jefferson City, Lucille Peters and her husband Leon, and Jeanette Lock and her husband Carl, all of Loose Creek; one sister, Angeline Lock of Jefferson City; one brothers, Joe Orscheln of Loose Creek; one sister-in-law, Anna Orscheln of Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren, 30 great- grandchildren, one step-great- grandchild, two great-great- grandchildren and one step- great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband Ben, Cora was preceded in death by: two great-grandchildren, Jessica Kremer and Logan Miles; four brothers, Hugo Orscheln, Henry Orscheln, Charles Orscheln and George Orscheln and five sisters, Bertha Backes, Irene Haslag, Gertrude Haslag, Olivia Eickhoff and Luella Kliethermes. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011, at Morton Chapel in Linn, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Fr. Don Antweiler as the Celebrant and Fr. I.C. Medina and Fr. Richard Cronin as Concelebrants. Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.
