William Ralph Young Jr., 60, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010, at University of Missouri Hospital. He was born July 5, 1950, in Mississippi the son of William Ralph and Marie Young Sr. Bill was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and served in the United States Marines, stationed in the pacific. He studied art, sculpting and worked in Hawaii for many years and continued his work in Monterey, California. He traveled throughout Asia before settling back in Jefferson City. William retired as a Corrections Officer from the Jefferson City Correction Facility and was a Loadmaster for the Air National Guard. Bill was a multi-faceted person, known for his wit and humor. He is survived by two sisters: Roberta Casey Young of Sacramento and Rita Young Riggs of Honolulu; one brother: Jeff Conigilio of San Diego; foster mother: Myra Gaines and family of Jefferson City; several nieces and nephews: Douglas, Scott, Taylor, Jade, Amber, Adam and Jessica. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 6, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of William's life at 2:00 p.m. at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street; 636-3838.
