Theodore Richard Neuner

Theodore Richard "Ted" Neuner, 88, Jefferson City, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center, surrounded by his family. He was born July 11, 1922, in Freeburg, Mo., to Theodore J. and Elizabeth Lueckenhoff Neuner. He served as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force in Europe during World War II and returned to marry his sweetheart Jeanette Heislen on September 17, 1945. The family gathered this fall to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. Ted Neuner spent most of his career with Jefferson City Distributors, Inc., retiring in 1987. Until his death, he worked part-time for American Stamp Company of St. Louis. He has been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church since 1945, serving on the first Parish Council and also serving as Lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2693. He also coached both his sons in little league baseball for many years. In April 2010, he traveled to Washington, D.C. with the Central Missouri Honor Flight to visit the World War II Memorial. He told family and friends it was one of the best days of his life. He was particularly moved by the homecoming reception. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanette; six children, Dr. Janice Neuner of Sumter, S.C.; Richard Neuner (Laura Kinkead) of Minneapolis; Barbara Paynter (Bob) of Cleveland; Carol Metz (Joe) of Cincinnati; Jim Neuner (Gina) and Laura Forbis (Pat A.), both of Jefferson City; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Irene Neuner, Mary Ann Neuner and Marge Bose (Bill), all of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Harry and sisters, Erma Hasenbeck and her husband Linus and Loretta Neuner. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox and the Rev. Msgr. Gregory L. Higley officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Masses and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1206 E.
