Donald Lee Adkins, 74, of Centertown, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born November 26, 1936, in Columbia, a son of the late Roy and Anna Lee (Brown) Adkins. He was a graduate of Hickman High School in Columbia. On March 18, 1955, Donald was united in marriage in Macon, to Nancy Lee Corley, who survives at their home. Donald worked for Von Hoffmann Press for 37 Ω years, where he started as a bookbinder and retired as Supervisor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Donald also enjoyed volunteering with various youth sports programs. Along with his wife Nancy, Donald is also survived by two daughters: Linda Marie Jackson (husband Steve) of Jefferson City, and Cindy Lee Rudder (husband Paul) of Centertown; six grandchildren: Jarad Roark, Brad Roark, April Miller, Mary Rudder, Sara Rudder, Kate Rudder; and two great-grandchildren: Nick Miller and Hannah Sapp. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Kenneth Adkins. Donald donated his body to the University of Missouri - School of Anatomy in Columbia. Private family services will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
