Ruth Viola Stump, 93, of Iberia, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born on November 23, 1917, in Vancouver, Wash., the daughter of the late Howard and Nora Huckins Brandeberry. She was united in marriage on December 25, 1936, in Vancouver, Wash., to Jackson Wilbur Stump, who preceded her in death on June 1, 2003. A homemaker, Mrs. Stump was employed in child care services during the 1940's, taught Montessori School in Tampa, Fla., helped with a Reading Readiness program in Virginia, and was a licensed real estate agent for several years. She was a member of Brays Advent Christian Church in Iberia, and enjoyed needlework, including quilting, knitting, and crocheting. Survivors include five children, Charles H. (Alice) Stump of Thousand Oaks, Calf., Richard D. (Linda) Stump of Meta, David D. (Elizabeth) Stump of Albuquerque, N.M., Judith J. (John) Whitaker of Fallon, Nev.; and Martha A. (Robert) Kruchten of New Baden, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Stump; an infant son; one brother, Chet Brandeberry; and one sister, Esther Brandeberry. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Brays Advent Christian Church in Iberia, with the Rev. Roy L. Gilkey officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Iberia. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
