Thomas Nelson Dozier, 89, of New Bloomfield, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in Jefferson City. He was born December 11, 1921, in Callaway County, the son of Thomas Price Dozier and Hazel Elnora Myers. On December 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Emily George. She preceded him in death in 2000. Mr. Dozier lived in Callaway County his entire life. An active community member, he was a charter member of the Meadow Lake Acres County Club as well as the New Bloomfield Area Historical Society. He served on the New Bloomfield City Council, New Bloomfield School Board and as Mayor of New Bloomfield. He held memberships in Pipe Fitter's Union #562, Reserve Officers Association, VFW, and Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. He graduated from New Bloomfield High School. He went on to receive vocational training in refrigeration and electrical in Kansas City, Mo. He retired from Harold G. Butzer, Inc. in 1986. He is survived by one son, David Dozier and wife Jane of Columbia; one daughter, Debbie Cuno and husband Dale of New Bloomfield; one brother, William Elgin Dozier and wife Jean of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Mary Lou Hiatte of New Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Clayton Russell Cuno of New Bloomfield, Elizabeth Granville Dozier of Columbia, and Thomas Maxwell Dozier, also of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 25, at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit. Interment will follow at Dry Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 24, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
