Stephen Joseph Rademan

Stephen Joseph Rademan, 62, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, February 13, 2011, at his home. He was born September 8, 1948, in Jefferson City, a son of Lawrence A. and Lillian S. (Brown) Rademan. He attended St. Peter Catholic School and was a 1967 graduate of Helias High School. On October 14, 1967, Steve was united in marriage at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Mary E. Rozier, who survives at their home. Steve worked for Mike Anderson Company, Richard Vaughan Company and JC Industries as a backhoe operator, something that he excelled at and considered a great accomplishment. He learned to do carpentry work from his father and brother and used those skills to do many projects around the house, ranging from simple tasks to major remodeling jobs, including dollhouse bookcases for his granddaughters. He was instrumental in organizing the Cole County Volunteer Fire Department and served as their first assistant chief. Steve coached many of his children's youth sports teams and enjoyed watching Helias football, baseball, softball and school plays. Other survivors include five children: Stephanie Thomeczek (Andy) of Hannibal, Matt Rademan (Jill) of Jefferson City, Sabrina Bates (Josh) of Jefferson City, Mitch Rademan of Jefferson City, Max Rademan (Susan) of Jefferson City; one brother: Larry D. Rademan (Janet) of Jefferson City; and seven grandchildren: Jessica Thomeczek, Emily Thomeczek, Abby Thomeczek, Coleton Rademan, Cailey Rademan, Payton Bates and Emma Spalding. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Rademan, on February 19, 2005. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. J. David Maher officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with the committal service held in the mausoleum chapel due to the recent inclement weather.
