Neva M. Myers, 84, formerly of Moberly, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Jefferson City. She was born October 1, 1926, in Salisbury, a daughter of William and Rose Jones Farthing. She married Jack D. Myers on February 2, 1946, in Kansas City. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1977. Neva was a homemaker until 1964. She became a talented business woman who operated, owned and then worked part time at Tedford Florist until 2008. She enjoyed arranging flowers and working with the public. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Moberly and a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She also chaired the decoration committee at the church for several years. She was an ardent supporter and volunteer for the American Red Cross. Her greatest love and passion were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Neva loved spending time with family and friends at Holiday Acres relaxing, water skiiing, stitchery, and reading cookbooks and magazines. She was a friend to many and her positive and outgoing approach to life and her energetic personality will be sadly missed by family and friends alike. Survivors include: two daughters, Davida Riley of Jefferson City, and Jackie and her husband Steve Long of St. Thomas; three grandchildren, Tisha Riley of Cortland, N.Y., Toree and her husband Rob Hamilton of Jefferson City, and Matthew Long and his wife Kim of St. Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Jack and John Hamilton, and Shelby Long. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Leta Schriefer of Jefferson City. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 10, at Cater Funeral Home Chapel, Moberly, with Pastor Robert Welsh officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 12 noon until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Moberly Area Community College Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.
