Norma Grace Dougherty

Mrs. Norma Grace Dougherty, age 94 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Grace was born July 25, 1916, in Mokane, Mo., the daughter of Hiram E. and Ella Nora Pearl Cheney Gregory. She was married on June 1, 1951, in Boonville, Mo., to Marvin William Dougherty, who preceded her in death on October 15, 1971. A longtime resident of the central Missouri area, Grace graduated from Hermann High School, Hermann, Mo. Grace was employed as the Executive Housekeeper with the Holiday Inn in Jefferson City from 1968 until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jefferson City and was a volunteer at Charles E. Still Hospital for many years after her retirement. Grace enjoyed traveling, Cardinal baseball, attending her grandchildren's activities, sewing, crossword puzzles, but most importantly, spending time with family and friends. Survivors include: two daughters, Tirzah Jo "Terry" Stephenson and her husband Joel of Jefferson City, Mo. and Marquita Jean Rowden of Iberia, Mo.; four grandchildren, Daniel Rowden, Gregory Rowden, Valerie Stephenson Pryor and her husband Brad, and Megan Stephenson; and three great- grandchildren, Loghan Rowden, Landyn Rowden, and Addisyn Rowden. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; one son, William Blake Dougherty on March 16, 1952; three sisters, Naomi Wiggins, Neva June Turley, and Nadine Simmons; one brother, James Edward Gregory; and one son-in-law, Danny L. Rowden. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Lewis Curtis officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Fayette City Cemetery, Fayette, Mo.
