Mr. Donald C. Butzer, age 77 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at the Villa Marie Nursing Center. Don was born October 4, 1933, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Guido G. and Elizabeth Angenendt Butzer. He was married on December 17, 1955, in Memphis, Tenn., to H. Aleen "Rusty" Rust, who preceded him in death on December 7, 1994. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Don graduated from Jefferson City High School and Lincoln University with a degree in accounting. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Don was employed with the Missouri Hospital Assn. and later retired from the State of Missouri Office of Administration in 1990. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus. Don enjoyed traveling, fishing, sailing, and studying history. Survivors include: three sons, Doug J. Butzer and his wife Carol of New Bloomfield, Mo., David M. Butzer and his wife Cynthia of Henley, Mo., and Daniel T. Butzer of Holts Summit, Mo.; one daughter, Dana M. Mobley and her husband Randy of Holts Summit, Mo.; one brother, Harold G. Butzer and his wife Kit of Jefferson City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Irene Butzer Ulstad and Lucille Butzer, and one great-granddaughter, Brianna Marie Mobley. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with Monsignor Gregory Higley officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice.
