Walter W. Strobel, age 93, of Lohman, died Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born May 7, 1917, in Centertown, a son of Henry and Elizabeth Horak Strobel, both deceased. On November 21, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville, he married Alene Schoch, who preceded him in death March 21, 1991. He was an Army veteran, serving his country in World War II. Walter was a lifelong dairy, crop and hog farmer in the Lohman area. He also drove a school bus for the Russellville school district for several years. He was a longtime, faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Debbie) Strobel of Jefferson City and Dale (Beth) Strobel of Lohman; his special friend, Bertha Linhardt of Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Aaron (Kate) Strobel, Jonathan Strobel, Brandy Huff, Ashley Huff and Erika (Nick) Brandl; nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Wilma Strobel; four brothers, Ernest, August, Conrad and Robert Strobel; and two sisters, Edna Strobel and Christina DeLong. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville, with Pastor Dave Carlson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
