Matthew Carlton

Mr. Matthew G. Carlton, age 28 years, of Lohman, Mo., died Thursday, January 28, 2011, in Detroit, Michigan. Matt was born December 20, 1982, in Belleville, Illinois, the son of Claud E. and Mary Philbert Carlton. He was married on September 13, 2008, in Middletown, Mo. to Allana Dooling. A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Matt attended Jefferson City Public Schools. He was employed with CEC Transport as an over the road truck driver. Matt enjoyed painting cars, riding an ATV, target shooting, and listening to music. Survivors include: his wife, Allana Carlton; two sons, Matthew Kane Carlton and Seth Kaynon Miller; one daughter, Pierce Avril Miller; his mother and step-father, Mary and Robert Branham of Middletown, Mo.; his father, Claud E. Carlton of Jefferson City, Mo.; four brothers, Robert Thompson and his wife Shannon of Jefferson City, Mo., Dennis Carlton of Gainesville, Georgia, Ken Carlton and his wife Tina of Joplin, Mo., and Tony Carlton-Gearhart and his wife Gina of Martin, Kentucky; four sisters, Terri Hentges and her husband Tony of Russellville, Mo., Cathy Stegall and her husband Dennis of Jackson, Mo., Cyndi Roach and her husband Jim of Jackson, Mo., and Sheila Carlton of Jackson, Mo. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Claud Carlton; his grandmother, Ressie Westerman; his grandfather, Elroy Philbert, and his grandmother, Katie Uptegrove. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Mark White officiating. Interment will be at the Branham Cemetery near Middletown, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Carlton Children Educational Fund.
