Arnold Cassil (Veteran)

Arnold Leslie (A.L.) Cassil, 86, of California, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Moniteau Care Center. He was born on November 16, 1925, at Lupus. He was the first and only son of Arnold and Alice (Rosenmiller) Cassil. He was married on September 11, 1949, to Ruth Knierim. A.L. was educated at Splice Creek and Prairie Home, where he graduated high school in 1943. He served in the United States military from June 1946 until May 1947. He served as Director of Sunday School from 1950 through 1999 and was ordained as a deacon in 1979. At the time of his death he was a member of First Baptist Church, California. He was a lifelong farmer in the Lupus area until his retirement in 1996. A.L. is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Cassil, of the home near California; two sons: Leslie Cassil and wife Suzy, Columbia, and Kevin Cassil, Kansas City; one daughter: Brenda McGuire and husband Bill, Jefferson City; one sister: Shirley Schlup, California; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorotha Dietzel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 26, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, California. Burial will be in California City Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Morrow and Dr. Paul Branstetter. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon at the First Baptist Church, California. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either California Ministerial Alliance or Moniteau County Food Bank, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
