Elfie Anna Meyerpeter, 89, of Jefferson City, died Friday, December 9, 2011, at Heisinger Bluffs. She was born November 29, 1922, in Henley, a daughter of William and Katherine (Schulte) Frank, both deceased. She attended Spring Valley School. On November 24, 1942, Elfie was united in marriage at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Mary's Home to Bernard H. Meyerpeter, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1995. Elfie worked for International Shoe Factory and was a nurse's aide at St. Mary's Health Center for 19 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where she had been active with the Ladies Sodality and St. Rita quilting group, and was a member of the St. Mary's Health Center Auxiliary. She did volunteer work at St. Mary's and enjoyed quilting and doing embroidery. Elfie was known as quite an excellent cook. Her children and grandchildren loved to eat her cooking, especially her homemade pies. She is survived by two children: Gary Meyerpeter and fiancÈe Jane Ragland of Columbia, and Jana Chambers of Jefferson City; four grandchildren: Tracy Schad and husband Steve, Scott Meyerpeter and wife Katie, Jason Meyerpeter and fiancÈe Melissa McDonald, and Matthew Meyerpeter; and four great-grandchildren: Skyler Schad, Delaney Schad, Pierce Meyerpeter and Berkeley Meyerpeter. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Freda Lootens, Veronica Jenkins, and Irene Sanning; and two brothers: August Frank and Andrew Frank. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Basil Eruo officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
