Hilda Kindrick

Hilda N. Kindrick, age 86, of Springfield, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011, in Cox South Hospital. She was born April 2, 1925, in Wright County, near Hartville, Missouri to Charles and Tansy (Newton) Nichols. Hilda was a 1943 graduate of Marshfield High School. She then attended Draughons Business School in Springfield. In 1944, she moved to Washington, DC to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). After four and one-half years of employment with the FBI, she returned to Missouri to marry. She was married on August 28, 1949, in Wright County, to Clarence Mitchell "Buzz" Kindrick, who survives her at home. Hilda was a full-time homemaker in Greene County. She was a member of Elwood United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and served in many offices. She was a charter member of the National Precious Moments Club and a charter member of the Onward Christian Soldiers Club. She served as the treasurer of this local club for 15 years. Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and George Hartsfield, Jefferson City; one step-granddaughter, Stacy Hartsfield and husband, Curt Buhr; a step-great-grandson and step-great-granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Josephine Nichols, San Jose, California; one niece, Diana Ruth Nichols, Novato, California; one nephew and wife, Greg and Chris Nichols, Grass Valley, California; grand nephews and niece, cousins and friends. Her brother, Paul Nichols, and her parents preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December, 9, 2011, in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Hal Bassett officiating. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home from 4-6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elwood United Methodist Church.
