Karen R. Breen, age 52 years, of Russellville, Mo., passed away Friday, December 2, 2011, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Karen was born on November 5, 1959, in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of James E. and Marjorie E. Opel Etter. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Karen attended Jefferson City High School and later graduated from Lincoln University. Karen was employed with the Office for State Courts Administration for the past five years and previously worked as an evidence technician for the Jefferson City Police Department for over nine years. Karen's main passion was spending time with her family, especially her new granddaughter. She will be sorely missed by her many friends and family that counted on her for support and guidance. She also enjoyed her farm in Russellville and taking care of her many animals: horses, dogs, cats and chickens. She was a member of Capital City Christian Church. Survivors include: her daughter, Kaycee R. Lopez and her husband Daniel of Columbia, Mo.; her sister, Kathy T. Tiberghien and her husband Randy of California, Mo.; two brothers, Kim P. Etter of Brazito, Mo. and Kenton D. Etter of Jefferson City, Mo.; her granddaughter, Adylee K. Lopez; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Kelly B. Hill. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. A Celebration of Karen's Life will be conducted at 12:00 noon Tuesday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Joe Kline officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Adylee K. Lopez Educational Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
