Everett Lloyd Hollis, age 94, of Meta, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mr. Hollis had been in failing health for some time. He was born the eighth child of a family of 10 on August 26, 1917, at Venus, in Maries County, a son of William and Dorothy Matilda (Wiles) Hollis He was united in marriage on September 2, 1939, at Vienna, to the former Miss Inez Almetta Blankenship, and to this union, three children were born. Everett was baptized early in life while attending Lambeth Assembly of God Church. He had served as School Sunday Superintendent and song leader for several years while attending there. He attended church for several years, not missing a service. They attended Mason Ridge Community Church for the past few years. He and his wife, Inez Blankenship, were married for over 71 years. After they were married, in 1939, they lived in Ellisville, Missouri. He had a job working at a government TNT plant and also worked at a dairy plant milking cows. After a few years, he and his wife moved back to Maries County where he was a farmer for the rest of his life. He also had a milk truck route where he would pick up milk from patrons in Maries County and deliver to Lebanon, for processing; and he worked for the Maries County ASCS office checking farms. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Katherine and Harold Patterson, Donna and Ronnie Thompson, and one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Sandra Hollis, all of rural Vienna; seven grandchildren, Lindell and Lori Patterson, Beverly and Paul Honse, Kevin and Lisa Patterson, Andrea Hollis, Cindy and Randy Wansing, Becky and Tom Kleffner, Keith and Angie Thompson; 14 great-grandchildren, Cody Honse, Justin Noblett, Jessica Noblett, Katie Milnes, William Patterson, Joshua Patterson, Cailey Patterson, Taylor Wansing, Tanner Wansing, Haley Ragan, Madison Ragan, Megan Thompson, Emily Thompson, and Brooke Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 25, 2011; his father in 1960; his mother in 1975; six brothers, Clyde Hollis, Rev. Ben Hollis, Leslie Hollis, Ray Hollis, Eugene Hollis, and Willard Hollis; and three sisters, Ella Gray, Gertrude Jones, and Margaret Brumble. Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Hollis at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011, in the Mason Ridge Community Church, 10784 Highway 133, Meta, with Rev. Larry Neal officiating. Interment will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery, Vienna, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes and 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011, in the Mason Ridge Community Church, 10784 Highway 133, Meta. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Vienna Public Cemetery with envelopes available at the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
