Mildred Helen Case, 91, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born September 4, 1919, in Osage City, the daughter of Victor F. and Mary Helen (Fassbinder) Thompson. She attended the Forest Hill School in Cole County and was a 1938 graduate of Jefferson City High School. On January 2, 1940, Mildred was united in marriage in Jefferson City to Donald William Case Sr., who preceded her in death on October 16, 2008. Mildred worked for Thompson-Young Sand & Gravel, Kress Variety Store and Mattingly's Variety Store. She enjoyed reading, recounting family history and sharing memories, needlework, spending time with family and friends and helping others in any way she could. Mildred was a beautiful lady with a heart filled with love. She is survived by five children: Donald Case Jr. and wife Beverly of Jefferson City, Charlotte Hammen and husband Dennis of Philpot, Kentucky, Sharon Dowdy of Jefferson City, Mary Jennings and husband Don of Jefferson City, Donna Branch and husband Kenny of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren: Sally Owens (Nick Delaney) of Seattle, Washington, John (Julie) Hammen of Owensboro, Kentucky, Steve (Heather) Case of Holts Summit, Lori (Denny) Linhardt of Jefferson City, Kevin (Kim) Case of Jefferson City, Tracy Jackson of Springfield, Jody (Andy) Hudson of Auxvasse, Michael (Sandy) Branch of California; 16 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Will and Kate Hammen, Kyle Hagemeyer, Madeline Roark, Katelynn, Caroline and Mason Case, Alyson and Courtney Linhardt, Amber, Kara and Grace Reed, Joe, Josh and Jordan Hudson, Zachary and Natalie Branch, and one on the way. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Dustin Branch in 1981 and Randy Bauer in 1993. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Gerald Scheperle officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus, American Cancer Society or Cadet Creek Cemetery.
