Joel Stacey Dye

Joel Stacey Dye, age 44, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, peacefully at his home from complications of diabetes. Joel was born September 25, 1966, at Ft. Leonard Wood in Pulaski County, Mo., the son of Joel H. Dye and Janet S. Maze. A 1984 graduate of Jefferson City High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1985 and served honorably as a tank commander in Operation Desert Storm. He was a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having been recently sealed to his wife in the Winter Quarters Temple in Omaha, Neb. Joel is survived by his wife, Julianna and children, Shannon Starr, Kevin Starr and Allison Starr; his daughter, Serena Dye; his son, Kyle Dye; his mother, Janet Hart and her friend, Dennis Vaught; his father, Joel Dye and wife, Robin; his grandparents, Lowell and Jane Blum; his sister, Valorie and her husband, Brian Fitzsimmons; brothers, Michael and John Dye. He was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Della May Thomas Maze. Funeral services were held Friday, August 19, in Blue Springs, with a military service and interment in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo.
