Bobby Myrl Alexander, 76, of Henley, departed this life Thursday, August 25, 2011, in Heisinger Bluffs, Jefferson City. He had been in failing health over the last couple of years Mr. Alexander was born May 3, 1934, at Iberia, Missouri, son of Melvin Andrew and Cora Arlene Alexander, Mr. Alexander was united in marriage on August 14th, 1989, at Jefferson City, to Norma Yvonne (Riggs). He was preceded in death by his wife on October 6, 2008; his father, Melvin and his mother Cora; his brothers, Carlis Raymond Alexander and wife Ruth (Martin), Winston Carl Alexander; and his great-grandson, Jake Lashley, earlier this year. Bobby Alexander loved the outdoors, horses, cooking, and learning; starting small businesses; was a skilled technician, and a beloved family man. When you didn't find him reading a book (including cookbooks) he was usually outdoors maintaining the farm or taking care of his horses. Mr. Alexander was a member of Shepherds Chapel Church, Gravette, Arkansas, but attended services at Woodcrest Chapel when his health permitted. Mr. Alexander, spent most of his professional career subcontracting with Otis Elevators after his military service. He was an Air Force Veteran, Journeyman Aircraft and Missile Electronic Repair Technician. Mr. Alexander was a member of American Legion Post #5, TWHBEA (Tennessee Walking Horse Breed Elite Association), RHBA (Racking Horse Breed Association), Kentucky Racing Horse Association, and retired from International Union of Elevators (Local 18) Journeyman Elevator Construction, Adjuster, and Repair. Mr. Alexander also enjoyed selling real estate during one of his prior careers. However, Bobby Alexander would tell you that his proudest accomplishment was the unique love he shared with his wife Yvonne, and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobby and Yvonne were happily married for 20 years before her preceding him in death. Those remaining to whom he passed on his wisdom, humor and charm include: three sisters, Iris Ellen Dake and husband Farris of Dixon; Donna Lou Sisk of Iberia; Mildred Marie Kavanaugh and husband Hank of Canada; two brothers, William Edward Alexander and wife Laverda of St. Louis; Melvin Junior Alexander and wife Melinda of Iberia; four daughters, Karen (Alexander) Scherer and husband Rob, Jefferson City; Rita Arnold, West Plains; Rayma Leach and husband Dave, St. Petersburg, Florida; and Rhonda Burns, Gulf Breeze, Florida; one son, Michael Robert Alexander, California; nine grandchildren, Shawna Sanders and husband Bradley, West Plains; Adam Brotherton, Dubuque, Iowa; Christopher Brotherton and wife Amanda, West Plains; Jonathon Lashley and wife Leigha, Caulfield; Melissa Hadley and husband Brian, Caulfield; Mark Burns, Gulf Breeze, Florida; Tony Sanders, Arizona; Gina Sanders, St. Louis; Mia Leach, Florida; and 10 great-grandchildren, Isaac Scherer, Lindsey Sanders, Gracie Lashley, Hunter Lashley, Case Lashley, Brand Sanders, Clayton Brotherton, Natalie Hadley, Abigail Hadley and Audrey Brotherton; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held for Mr. Alexander at 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, August 27, 2011, with visitation from 10 - 11 a.m. all in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his memory to Woodcrest Chapel or Wounded Warrior Fund.
