Larry Gene Leffert, 64, of St. Elizabeth, Mo., was welcomed into the Lord's loving arms on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Mo. Larry was born on March 3, 1947, in Macks Creek, Mo., the son of the late John and Velma (Waters) Leffert. On June 8, 1991, he was united in marriage to Janis Kay (Scott) Leffert, who survives at the home. He attended Eldon High School and was a highly skilled mason and co-owner of Leffert-Dinwiddie Masonry prior to his retirement in 2009. He was a devoted family man and friend with a genuine and caring heart who brought joy and smiles to all who had the pleasure of meeting him. An avid outdoorsman, he was particularly fond of the many acres he roamed with regularity, arrowhead and mushroom hunting, gardening, Cardinals Baseball, and spending time with his three Labrador retrievers. Other survivors include four children: two daughters, Mendy Duncan and husband Damon of Russellville, Melissa Warny of Eldon; two sons, Jason Musick of Russellville, and Derek Leffert and wife Michelle of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren: Derek Duncan and wife Kacey, Krista Duncan and Amber Duncan, all of Russellville, Tori Baigi, Tristen Warny and Tate Warny, all of Eldon, and Alaina and Gage Leffert of Jefferson City; great-granddaughter, Karsyn Duncan of Russellville; two brothers, William Dale and Ann Leffert, and John Leffert and wife Debbie of Eldon, Mo.; his step-mother, Loretta Leffert of Eldon, Mo.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Eldon, Mo., with Pastors Brian Jarrett and Lisa Deutsch, officiating. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial in Barnett, Mo.
