Montrey Lou Moudy, 90, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born December 13, 1920, in Joplin, a daughter of Luther and Lula Mae (Watkins) Laster. She was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. On June 28, 1942, Montrey was united in marriage in Galena, Kansas, to Jack Arlo Moudy, who preceded her in death on July 5, 2009. Montrey was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She was an Exemplar and lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and had been active with various civic organizations throughout her life. She is survived by four children: Ronald D. Moudy of Phoenix, Arizona, Vicki L. Nichols of Memphis, Tennessee, Jacquelyn M. Slifer of Murphy, North Carolina, and Richard G. Moudy of Jefferson City; three grandchildren: Randy Lindgren, Shaun Slifer, and Heather Marie Helser; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three siblings: Talmadge Byrd, Francis Laster and Jackie Dean Laster. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Private family funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Dumas officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
