Jonathon Albert (Jonny) Jacobs, age 65, of Waynesville, formerly of Tebbetts, Mo., passed away Monday, July 25, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Lebanon, Mo. He was born December 31, 1945, in Tebbetts, Mo., the son of the late Albert and Mary (Dorsey) Jacobs. Jonny was married in 1992 to Carolyn Sumpter, who passed away in March of this year. Jonny grew up in Tebbetts. He went on to the University of Missouri and graduated with a degree in Agriculture. Later he joined the Army during the Vietnam era. There he received the rank of Captain. Jonny worked for the State of Missouri until his retirement in 2001. Jonny had endured paralysis since suffering a stroke in 2003. Jonny enjoyed being with folks and chatting. He was interested in old farm machinery. He and his wife, Carolyn, loved traveling. They also enjoyed camping at various lakes and parks. Jonny was a fan of nonfiction books and old blues music. Survivors include his step-son, Toney Sumpter and Toney's wife, Linda; two sisters-n-law, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, one god-daughter and many cousins. Jonny was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, and both his parents. There will be a Memorial service at the First Baptist Church in Miller, Mo. on Friday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation brunch celebrating Jonny's life will be held at Ria's Restaurant at 3550 West Edgewood Drive on Wednesday, August 10, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory.
