LeRoy B. Witthaus

LeRoy B. Witthaus, 86, of Morrison, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center, Jefferson City. Mr. Witthaus was born in Morrison on March 10, 1925, the son of the late Rudolph and Mathilda (Birk) Witthaus. He was the widower of Gertrude H. (Thuli) Witthaus. They were married June 19, 1948, at Assumption Church, Morrison. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2008. He was a member of Assumption Church, Morrison. As a young man he worked at the garage in Morrison with his brother Floyd. He also worked at the boat yard in Gasconade but spent most of his life farming with his wife. LeRoy is survived by his two daughters, Mary Lee Rost of Hermann and Paulette Sue "Susie" Kreter and husband Alan of Jefferson City; a brother, Don Witthaus and wife Adlee of Hermann; three sisters, Talitha Winkelmann of Hermann, Loretta Whithaus of Morrison and Darla Jean Jones of Labadie; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant brother, Gilbert; a brother, Floyd; and a sister, Laura. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 3, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Assumption Church, Morrison. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. from the church with Father David Means officiating. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, Morrison. Memorials may be given to the church or Alzheimers Association, c/o Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
