Alma Mary Borgmeyer, 99, of Taos, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Westphalia Hills. She was born on April 17, 1912, in Cole County, the daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Heislen Talken. She was united in marriage on June 4, 1935, in Taos, to John G. Borgmeyer, who preceded her in death on August 11, 1988. A homemaker all her life, in her early years Alma babysat for new mothers from the age of 12 till 21. She also worked for Tweedie Shoe Factory from 1934-1936. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and St. Ann's Sewing Circle. Alma enjoyed gardening and quilting. Survivors include: five children, Leonard (Diane) Borgmeyer, Loose Creek; Steven (Evelyn) Borgmeyer, Taos; Agnes (Ralph) Veit, New Bloomfield; Vera Borgmeyer, Pleasant Hope; and Marilyn (Jerry) McGehee, Boliver; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alvin Talken, Taos. She was preceded in death by three sons, Vincent, Paul, and Louis Borgmeyer; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two brothers, Clarence and Wilfred Talken. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon, Saturday, April 30, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. Wayne M. Boyer officiating. Burial will be St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Friday at the church with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Additional visitation will be 11-12 noon Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 7319 Rt. M, Jefferson City, MO 65101; or to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 7307 Rt. M, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
