Mary Jane (Decker) Seagle

Mary Jane (Decker) Seagle, age 61, of Montevallo, Ala., passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Mary was born on September 24, 1949, and raised in Jefferson City. She is the daughter of the late Edith Houchin Decker and Hubert R. Decker. In 1982, she relocated to Alabama. Mary spent many of her working years as a stay-at-home mom. Her most proud accomplishment was her children. Mary's passion for literature and learning inspired her to work many years as a volunteer at Parnell Library. For the past 10 years, Mary worked as an Interlibrary Loan Assistant at Carmichael Library at University of Montevallo. She is survived by her daughters, Rae Wansing, Paige Wansing Jones and her husband Jasen Jones, all of Osage Beach; one son, John W. Seagle and his wife Leslie of Centreville, Ala.; one grandson, Peter Wansing of Olean; one granddaughter, Zoe Jones of Osage Beach; and one niece, Alea Leeteg of Seattle, Wash. Preceding her in death were husband, Kenneth A Seagle; mother, Edith I. Decker; sister, Sandra Schmitz; and a grandson, Ozzie Jones. Burial services will be at Riverview Cemetary on Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend a reception to follow at Capital Arts Gallery in Washington Park Center, East entrance.
