Catherine Thornburg

Catherine Esther Thornburg, 73, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at her home. She was born January 30, 1938, in Meta, a daughter of Joseph L. and Catherine Herigon Evers. On May 31, 1957, Catherine was united in marriage in Meta to Ronald Thornburg, who survives at their home. She worked for Von Hoffman Press for 30 years until her retirement. Catherine loved animals and enjoyed bird watching, flower gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Other survivors include five children: Keith Thornburg and wife Shari of Jefferson City, Karen Myers and husband Kevin of St. Martins, Daniel Thornburg and wife Lori of Jefferson City, Terry Thornburg of Jefferson City, Kimberly Lehmen of Jefferson City; two sisters: Margaret Brand of Jefferson City, Marie Barnett of St. Louis; two brothers: Frank Evers of Neosho, Joseph Evers of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren: Melissa Petty, Kayla Duemler, Katie Lehmen, Elizabeth Lehmen, Taylor Thornburg, Megan Thornburg, Cammie Thornburg; and one great- grandchild, Makai Petty. She was preceded in death by two children, Diane L. Thornburg on March 4, 1977, and Michael J. Thornburg on February 28, 1965; one brother, Samuel Evers; and one sister, Rita Kampeter. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Mueller officiating.
