Carmelita Louise Green, 96, of Taos, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Westphalia Hills. She was born on April 12, 1915, in Jennings, Okla., the daughter of the late Frank Carl and Frances Rose Kolb Markway. She was united in marriage on November 15, 1958, in Jefferson City, to Ernest Wiley Green who preceded her in death on September 13, 2007. Carmelita was a bookkeeper with Branderberger Drug Store for 37 years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was active in several church activities, member of Eagles Auxiliary, and was secretary for the Taos Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include: one step-daughter, Betty Lovins, Hermitage, Mo.; one brother, Don (Therese) Markway, Jefferson City; and several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Albertine Coffelt and Marjorie Frank; and three brothers, Francis, Everett, and Ulysses "Pete" Markway. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne M. Boyer officiating. Burial will be St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 8:30-10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 7319 Rt. M, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
