Rosella Alice Boss, 91, of Linn, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Autumn Meadows in Linn. Rosella was born in Chamois on January 21, 1920, a daughter of the late Bertha G. (Rippstein) and Joseph William Boss. She was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Church in Chamois and graduated in 1934, from the Catholic School. She was employed at Oberman's Pants Factory until 1951, and then worked at Langenberg Hat Co. until 1982. She was a charter member of the the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 506 in Chamois and served as president for 23 years as well as color bearer and poppy chairman; belonged to the Chamois Booster Club and started the annual East egg hunt in 1954 which is still held today. She and her twin sister, Genevieve quilted over 400 quilts for others. She loved to quilt and often quilted with church groups weekly; she also loved growing flowers, especially gladioli's and roses; and also enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and playing dominos. Her survivors include her sisters, Genevieve Boss of Linn and Dorothy Topel and husband Arnold of Peoria, Ill. and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Norbert and Donald Boss; and three sisters, Lorene Holzem, Helen Holzem and Mildred Johnson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 13, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois with Fr. David Means officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church in Chamois. Arrangements under the direction of the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.
