Neva Danielle Howlett, 22, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 4, 1989, in Columbia, Missouri, a daughter of Garry L. Howlett and Dana L. Boyce. She was named after her great-great-grandmother, Neva Armstrong and grandfather, Daniel Boyce. Neva was a 2007 graduate of Jefferson City High School, where she was part of the JCHS Orchestra Program. She enjoyed board games, texting, decorating cakes, watching reality TV and spending time with family and friends, especially her son Daniel. Neva battled Metastatic Melanoma Cancer for the past three years. She made many travels back and forth to Bethesda, Maryland, to receive experimental treatments at the National Institute of Health. She ended treatment at Siteman's Cancer Center in St. Louis, Missouri, and was tenderly taken care of by the special and caring staff of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia, Missouri. Due to her bravery and courage; the studies she participated in will likely save the lives of other victims to follow her. Neva is survived in the home by her fiancÈ: Rodney Michael Pritchard Jr. and son: Daniel Paul Pritchard, age 3. She is also survived by her father: Garry L. Howlett (wife Nancy) of Jefferson City, Mo.; her mother: Dana L. Boyce (fiancÈ Timothy Field) of Fenton, Mo.; a brother: Brandon Howlett of Fenton, Mo.; maternal grandparents: Daniel and Claudia Boyce of Jefferson City, Mo.; paternal grandmother: Bonnie Satterfield of Rocky Mount, Mo.; great-grandmother: Fern Plunk of Quincy, Ill.; three uncles: Clinton Boyce of Chicago, Ill.; Larry Howlett of Rocky Mount, Mo.; Michael Howlett (wife Sheila) of Rocky Mount, Mo.; a step-sister: Rachelle Ocheskey of Jefferson City, Mo.; two step-brothers: Timothy Field and James Field of Fenton, Mo.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two paternal grandfathers: Marshall Satterfield and Lawrence Howlett; and a great-grandmother: Lottie Corley. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Deacon Al Brand officiating. Following the service, everyone is invited to join the family for a "Cake Reception", featuring a cake specially made by Buddy Valastro and Carlo's Bakery of the TV Series "Cake Boss". Friends are also welcome to bring a cake of their choice to the cake reception, that will be held at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Neva will be cremated and laid to rest with her Mother upon her passing, so she is never alone. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Daniel Pritchard Educational Fund.
